Announcements
Athletics Office
The Athletics Office will be closed for the month of June.  

Student athletes can begin getting cleared on July 30th Monday through Friday from 8am-4pm in the athletics office.

During Apache Days athletic clearance will be handled at the counselor of the day desk.  

 


AHS Apache Singings
 Congratulations to the following Apache Athletes who have signed to play in college next year


Yarem Park

4 years varsity softball.

Majoring in biology.

Study in medical school and become a pediatrician.

She considers her dad as a life coach and her autistic brother as a mentor.

Roni Yamane

3x Pasadena Star-News Runner of the Year (2011, 2012, 2013)

3x Pacific League XC Individual Champion (2011, 2012, 2013)

4x Varsity Member of Pacific League XC Team Champions (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013)

Top-10 Finisher at CIF XC State Finals (2013)

Roni Yamane is the number two all-time performer in the 1600 meters and 3200 meters. In 2012, she qualified for CIF finals in both events.

Will attend UCLA


Megan Steinberger

3 year starter on varsity as forward and central midfielder.

All league selection as a senior.

All CIF all star game participant 2014.  

Will attend CSU Dominguez Hills

Adriana Maldonado

4 year starting goal keeper on varsity.  

All league selection all 4 years.  

Pacific league MVP as a junior.  Team MVP as junior.  

All CIF all star game  participant as senior.

Will attend CSU LA in the fall.


Kyra White

Kyra White holds the number two marks in school history in the 200 and 400 meters.

She is the number four all-time performer in the 100 meters.

She anchored our team to the number two time in school history in the 4x400 relay and is a member of our school record setting 4x100 relay.

She has qualified for CIF many times over in these events.

Will attend Cal State Northridge


Boys Volleyball Wins the Santiago Tournament!
 Congratulations to our Boys Volleyball team who took first place in the Santiago Tournament on March 8th.


AHS Girls Basketball Champs Again!

Congratulations to our AHS Varsity Girls Basketball team  who won the Glendora Tournament over break. Christina Huynh was the Tournament MVP and Mel Chen was All Tournament!

 Congratulations to our Boys Cross Country Team for winning the 2013 CIF State Championship!

Girls Basketball Wins Wilson Tournament
 Congratulations to our Girls Basketball team for winning the Wilson Ladycat Classic Tournament for the second straight year!  Caira Benton was awarded the MVP of the tournament.  Christina Huynh and Kimi Kodama were selected to the all tournament team.

Mackenzie Grimes Signs with the University of North Texas
 Mackenzie Grimes will be attending the University of North Texas in the fall of 2013 on an athletic scholarship. She is a four year varsity softball player for Arcadia High School and has played with the So Cal Choppers and the So Cal Strikkers organization since 2008. In high school she received  Rookie the Year and MVP her sophomore and Junior year. She has been coached by All American athletes Kim Wuest, UCLA and Susie Parra, University of Arizona. She will be looking forward to playing first base and pitcher in college.

Dominique Ortiz Signs
 Arcadia’s multi-dimensional athlete/actress has committed to Regis University. As a cross country, softball athlete and an award winning actress at Arcadia High School, Ortiz will help lead the Apaches softball team into the CIF Playoffs. Ortiz has competed in the Premier Girls Fastpitch National Championships with the Gold Florida Gators and starts on the Teamsmsith travel team, she earned Most Improved runner and was a semi-finalist in the recent DTASC(Drama) regionals to help earn Arcadia High School the coveted DTASC Sweepstakes Championship. The Arcadia Drama team has earned a trip to the Jerry Herman Awards at the Pantages Theatre later this month. Regis Rangers Cross Country Coach John Esquibel and Softball Coach Nicole Trimboli welcome Dominique in joining an outstanding group of incoming freshman student athletes.

Austin and Adrian Selected to HOF Game
 Austin Ford & Adrian Barrios were selected for the 34th Annual Hall of Fame Football Game. Come out to support them on Friday May 17th 2013.  The game is hosted at West Covina High School at 7pm.

Austin Ford Signs
 Arcadia’s hard hitting linebacker has committed to Whittier College.  As the Apaches Team Captain, Ford earned All Area First Team and All Pacific League First Team honors, and was Defensive MVP for Arcadia High. Ford will finish his High School career representing Arcadia High School in the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame All-Star Game on May 17, 2013.   At the end of his senior season, Ford was ranked in the top 30 linebackers in the State with 130 total tackles and 79 solos.  Whittier’s Head Coach, Todd Stratton, is extremely pleased to have Ford joining his ranks of Freshman players and expects Ford to make immediate contributions to the team, from both an athletic and leadership perspective.

Melody Chang
Melody Chang scored 36 points on January 7th vs. Muir High School.  That puts her over 1000 points for her total career at AHS. She also tied her own school record with 10 three pointers in the game.  Congratulations to Melody and the girls basketball team!

Congratulations to Alex McElwee who is the first student athlete from Arcadia to win a CIF divisional title in a sprint event (400m and less)!

Ryan Vargas recently signed to run with Loyola Marymount University.  Congratulations to Ryan.  We wish him the best!

Sergio Gonzalez Signs With Portland
Sergio Gonzalez recently signed to run with the University of Portland.  They are nationally ranked and place consistently in the top 10 in the NCAA Cross Country Championships program.  Congratulations Sergio.  We wish you the best.

Veronica Yamane
Sophomore, Veronica Yamane was named Athlete of the Week by the Pasadena Star News.  Ronnie was the second fastest girl in the 3,200 meter race after running an 11:08.48 at the rated portion of the Arcadia Invitational on Friday.  She also ran the 800 relay leg in the distance medley and the 4 X 800 in the meet.  Go, Ronnie!

Hayley Greep Signs With Northridge
Congratulations to Hayley Greep who received an athletic scholarship and signed to play soccer with Cal State Northridge on Wednesday!  We're proud of you!  Good Luck!

Apache Football Signing Day
Congratulations to Taylor Lagace and Myles Carr who signed full athletic football scholarships to UCLA and Fresno State respectively.  We wish you the best!  No Apaches Down!

This year we lost a great Apache, Chris Handy.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family.  Rest in peace Chris.

Madyson Cassidy Named Occidental Team Captain
Madyson Cassidy, a sophomore at Occidental College and a graduate of Arcadia High School has been named team captain of the volleyball team.  Madyson was team MVP here at AHS her senior year, and made all-conference as a freshman last year at Occidental.  There is a great article on her in the Pasadena Star News at the link below.  Congratulations Maddy!  Keep up the good work!
